IMS Tools

Following is the description of each tool in the IMS tool bar (picture above).
Zoom In - Allows the user to view the map enlarged or in greater detail. Move the pointer over the map display and click once to zoom around a point. Alternatively, click and drag a rectangle defining the area you want to zoom in on.
Zoom Out - This tool works in the same manner of the zoom in tool, but zooms out from a point or an area.
Pan - Allows the user to pan around the map. Move the pointer over the map display and click and drag it.
Last - Takes the map back to the previous map extent. Only the last extent is kept by the application.
Active - Enlarges the current display to the maximum extent of the active layer. The active layer can be detected or changed in the table of contents.
Identify - Allows the user to view attributes information about features by clicking on them. The result of identifying a map feature is shown in the links frame (right side of the map). The Identifytool only shows one feature at time.
Sel Box - Allows the user to select features on the map and view their attributes. First, make active the theme of interest, then click on the Sel Box button, and finally draw a rectangle. All features intersected by the rectangle will be selected (yellow), and their attributes will be listed in a separate window.
Sel Line - Similar to Sel Box, it allows the user to select features by drawing a line or polygon on the map. Click on the Sel Line button and a form will open in the links frame, which allows you to manage the operation.
Query - Retrieves map features by querying the attribute table. First, make active the layer to query, then click on the Query button. A form will open in the links frame, which provides controls to build a query string and execute it.
Clear Map - Removes lines generated with a measurement, selected features, or buffers from the map.
Measure - Measure distances on the map. Apply this tool on the map to define the starting point, and then click again to define the second point. Repeat the sequence for each segment. Segment and total measures appear on the map's upper left corner. Note that for each point, there is a call to the server; therefore, wait to see the new point drawn before moving to the next one. To erase lines from the map, click the Clear Map button.
Print - Creates an on-fly print layout with title, map, legend, site map, and logos. The title is the only customizable item in the printout.
Legend - Displays the current map legend.
Links - Displays map, data and legend links, and project's metadata navigational tool.
Locator - Hides or reveals the overview (site) map. The overview map displays the full extent of the Tampa Bay project boundary. A red box in the window represents the extent of the current viewing area.
Restart - Restarts the Tampa Bay IMS. Note that clicking this button, you will return to the full extent of the Tampa Bay map.
